Hi guys, so let me explain myself. I had a 3DS, i loved it, but i sell it for a Nintendo Switch, wich i love as well. To be honest the last 2-3 months i didnt even touched my 3DS. I finished Pokemon Moon and just occasionally turn it on for online battles.

So the 2DS is pretty cheap, 150$ on Amazon is a great deal for me and of course i will "hack" it for the games. Now, the thing is, is it worth getting one right now? The Switch is taking the spotlight and i have a good PC for Citra (trying Metroid rn, really good), but its not the same, obviously.

Should i buy one now that is cheap, or maybe is just the nostalgia? How much would it hold till is discontinued? Is it redundant to have a Switch + 3DS?

What you guys think?

I'm assuming you mean a New2DS, in which case I say is worth it. You'd need a compatible flashcart/hardmod/friend with hacked system to hack yours though

By all means if it is the N2DS then its a good price. Correct me if i'm wrong but i think it came out with 11.4 so you would have to go with the ntrboot method.

I have been waiting N2DS XL since forever. I am one of those people who think 3D feature is useless. If I had not bought my o3ds I would buy a N2DS XL now.

2ds is still the best form factor for large/adult hands.
better shoulder buttons and the controls are moved up compared to the folding models.
i also like how the "hinge" or screen divider is very slim on 2ds.

o2ds is garbage for WHERE the buttons are located. It is the only nintendo device I've ever owned that feels like shit in my hands.
n2ds xl feels great. Like a proper portable device. The controls are all placed where they should be for ease of use.

i used to go out to the recycling center every couple weeks and look at the crts and other electronics people would drop off. Usually screens were broken or severely scratched from being tossed around. Did find a good one here and there, but never anything like a 1080i widescreen crt.

Is it piracy if it was released for free? Not in my opinion, but I also think it's not piracy if buying it isn't owning it, and it's not piracy if you can't buy it from the original creators anymore.

Free release can have loopholes where they still make money through ads
