So yea...
Someone once told me "I've been with 1080p, but now I'm with 4k, and now, I won't ever go back to 1080p"
Is 4k really that good?
I have a GTX 1060 6GB, I know it supports 4k, but up to what?
Will I be able to play most game with ultimate setting AND in 4k?
I don't even have a 4k TV, everything here is 1080p
So i'd like to know, is 4k really worth it?
Does human eye really see a that big difference?
Honnestly, I find 1080p already very clear

Also, I know only some movies are available in 4k here in Quebec
We don't have any TV channel in 4k
Just a channel that allows you to rent movies, and even there, you need a special terminal to watch it in 4k

So I ask you
With today's technologies, is it really that worth it to get a 4k monitor/TV?

I don't bother with it, my eyes suck anyways, 1080p already makes most movies look like soap opera tv recordings with the frame pulldown.

I think 4K is worth it, but I also think it's a bit subjective and it depends on your setup. If you have a shitty 4K TV or a small TV + you sit far away, it'd be hard to tell the difference. However, if you have a decently sized TV + you sit closer, the difference is noticeable.

My face is about 2 feet away from the monitor of my pc
I think my current monitor is 21.5"
If I buy one with similar size, will I see a big difference?

get 4k if you don't care about fps. Meaning if you are not like me that requires at least 100fps in games.

While the GTX 1060 can probably handle 4K in some games, you'd have to lower the settings at that resolution, thus making some things less prettier in order to run games at 4K. So I'd say hold off on getting a 4K monitor until your next GPU upgrade.

yea well, 30 fps is fine to me, but below 25, I see a difference
but as long as it don't become unplayable, I'm fine

I've seen that video with fire explosion using the RTX technology
But do you think it will be able to handle 4k better?

30 fps? hope you're not into FPS's "first person shooters" lol
well, before I get my GTX 1060 or even my GTX 760
I had a GT 530 for a couple of years
So yea, I played with very low graphics and low fps for a while
and yea, 30fps doesn't really bother me

Also, what do you mean by "I hope you're not into FPS"
I mean, are Frame rate only important in first person shooter?
I don't think so ;)

I grew up on counter-strike if that means anything to you. If it doesn't then you wouldn't understand. It might not matter in single player first person shooters but if you play online multiplayer you'll get smoked by players with high FPS to the point where you'll be calling them cheaters as I so frequently have been accused. This really only applies to pc's as FPS on consoles are locked.

I can +1 that. Of course a good, steady framerate is nice and good for any game no matter what, but when it comes to FPS'es (note @Noctosphere : that's "First Person Shooter" in this context, not "Frames Per Second" ;) ), the FPS (so Frames Per Second) are absolutely necessary above a certain skill level. The best analogy would be that FPS'es for an FPS are what running shoes are for a runner: it doesn't help perform better in and of itself, but if you're a good gamer/runner, it's really holding you back if you don't have good equipment on that field.

Is it piracy if it was released for free? Not in my opinion, but I also think it's not piracy if buying it isn't owning it, and it's not piracy if you can't buy it from the original creators anymore.
