Every time they do server maintenance, a thread pops up asking if this "will be the next update?"
The answer is maybe, but most likely not. This isn't the first time since the release of 10.7 that they've done server maintenance and all the others were not met with an update. But we will find out in 4 days.

It's possible because of My Nintendo being added recently, but that could be for a summer update if they do one.

Sounds interesting, but if it's a system update (10.8), there are always ways to exploit it. Remember back in the "bad old days" where even flashcarts didn't work on 3DSes? And then...boom! Homebrew and custom firmware on the 3DS. (I thank all of you guys and girls who tested and potentially bricked their systems.)

Software is written by humans - so, there are always ways around it.
