Has anyone figured out how the circle pad pro communicates with the 3DS via IR?

We know that you can send controller input via the IR transceivers on 3DS/circle pad. Could a non-intrusive adapter to use a GameCube controller (or other Bluetooth devices) be made using this feature?

Yes, it can be done. Someone moded O2DS so he has implemented second joystick.
