I forgot the pass code, and heard that I'm going to need to restore it. The firmware is at 4.1, and I don't want to upgrade to 4.3, so when I tried update by holding the SHIFT key and clicking on 4.1 firmware file, it gives me errors. I tried tinyumbrella to save SHSH files, but my itouch doesn't have any saved. Basically, does this mean that I will have to restore it upgraded to 4.3 firmware?

If you're jailbroken and you installed openSSH, or if you can access the file system (with afc2add, which is installed automatically when you use Greenpois0n) there is a way.
Get into the file system (either with an SSH client or iFunBox) in /var/Keychains and delete keychain-2.db and restart your device.
