Ok, I decided that I didn't really use my jailbreak all that much (being an iPod Touch there didn't seem that big a difference to me) so I thought that with the iOS4 just being released today I would just restore my iPod to that firmware and resync. Unfortunately this has not been the case *groan*

After I clicked restore my iPod rebooted into recovery mode as it was supposed to. There was however a problem. My computer cannot find the recovery mode drivers for it. Can anybody help me with this? I haven't yet reinstalled iTunes as my library took a good while to set up and I do not want to lose it, I'm sure I can keep it but am unsure of how.

You running iTunes 9.2? Also, if all else fails, do the power and home, release home button thing to go into DFU. It should find it then.

Ugh...
Yes I am running iTunes 9.2! I wouldn't be able to update otherwise. Its in DFU mode (i.e. RECOVERY MODE!) MY computer sees the device as "Apple Mobile Device (Recovery Mode)" It just can't find the driver for it therefore iTunes cannot see it
1) Might reinstalling iTunes fix this? I think my update was bugged as I kept getting "unsigned package" errors on Windows.
2) How can I reinstall iTunes without losing my library, album art and playlist information?

Just restarted, no such luck. Still no device driver found

Reinstalling iTunes will probably do it. I don't know whether I'll lose my library or not though (I do know where its kept but I'm not sure whether it includes album art info though and that's what I really want to keep)

1) Yes, I think.
2) No idea, but I'd just move the iTunes library folder in My Music. That's where it holds all your stuff.

Also, you're not in DFU, you're in recovery. There is a difference, iTunes identifies them both as recovery mode, but with DFU you factory reset it via the phone. Then open iTunes and it should recognise it.

Don't think it matters, both are recognised that same and its my PC that's having trouble here. Gonna reinstall iTunes...now begins removing all traces of the iTunes program

Edit: Success, dumbass iTunes Update had ballsed up somehow... I hate Apple
