I just saw an FM radio gadget for DS (by Gametech) in a shop. It plugs in Slot-2 and uses DS' energy. It has its own small screen and buttons and a slot for headphones. It was 25 bucks. But I wondered whether it works outside of Japan (as I'm gonna return home, well, someday) and it stick out (like 1.5 cm), and overall isn't that comfortable.

So, I thought of internet radio. Can I listen to it on my DS via Wi-Fi? If I can, what program should I use? Also, I have only Nintendo USB dongle, I heard it has probs with homebrew, but it works 100% with my games. Can I use it anyway? Or can I mod it (different drivers) in order to use it? Any help on these questions will be greatly appreciated.

I think DSOrganize 2.5 supports streaming mp3s over the internet, just stick a .pls or .m3u file onto your memory card and play it in DSOrganize, it should automatically connect...I've tested it and it works reliably, but it draws really lot of energy...

but it rocks !

I can also confirm this works using DSO 2.5

Although in order for me to successfully connect to a server I first had to connect to the DSO irc channel then disconnect and finally select the pls file :\

If you don't use something like Winamp which has the ability to save .pls files you can make your own by using the examples found here

So, my connection isn't a problem. The problem lies either with Wi-Fi or DSO itself.

Also, I've just read of Soft AP mod for the usb dongle. Will it help?

Yes it might that was going to be my next reply on what you can try

So try the soft mod and report back but before you come back with other connection problems don't forget to try connecting to DSO's IRC server then disconnect then try and play the .pls file the Wi-Fi might need a kick start mine always does for some reason
