GBATemp is a no piracy site. Only tells you how to mod consoles which is perfectly legal here. GBATemp will not be blocked.

Well ain't that great - the Australian government's going communist. What next, they won't let anyone in or out of the country?

It's going communist? When's the next flight to Sydney??

Anyway, people who are freaking out about our extensive hosting of backup loaders and the like, don't worry. Backup loaders are legal. Developers usually say they're NOT for piracy purposes (sure, with their fingers crossed behind their back but still), only to play backups of your own games. Every file we host is 100% legal. And the instructions for backup loading are simply instructions for a completely legal modification of your Wii that is meant for NOT playing illegally downloaded games.

If Australia blacklists GBAtemp I'm sure we can bring up a debate saying that while we talk about piracy, we do not host anything illegal and in the context they are speaking of.

Oh legal loopholes, I love you.

Why are young children always used as excuses to ban things? If parents are really that worried about their young children seeing (jacking off to) "violent" porn on the internet, why do they even let them use it unattended? Would they rather their young child see "normal" porn?

This would include sites containing child sex abuse, bestiality, sexual violence or detailed information about how to use drugs or commit crimes.

Do you really care..?
Yes.

Because it opens the door to the blocking of other content in the future based on what the government deems "unacceptable".
GBAtemp could be blocked based off the line you quoted because it contains guides to circumvent copy protection thus, showing us how to "commit crimes".

So yes, we really care.

You can be sure that it's a smokescreen for a much larger agenda. These type of things are always sugar coated so the general mum and dad type public accepts it without too much resistance.

This is nothing new.

Seriously, the UK filters about 40% of the internet, most people just don't realise it.
Other countries also have filters in place, just not common knowledge.

All this "announcement" means is that Australia is upping the amount of filtering and making it public as a scare tactic.

I heard the UK was getting bad for certain liberties, but 40% sounds insane. That'd be something I'd expect from China. I'm just a bit skeptical on that figure.
