Is it possible to put firmware exiting (like Moonshell) onto older emulators like NeoDS and SnemulDS? I've seen arg support put into NeoDS so I assume the same is possible for firmware exiting, but no emulator has that feature right now and it seems pretty essential considering how much of a hassle rebooting your flashcart is vs pushing a button so maybe there's something technically limiting about it. Any thoughts/answers?

No. Doing anything with older homebrew requires the source code. Since it's old homebrew, even if you got the source code, you would have to update all of the coding to match with newer revisions of devkitpro and or PALib, which alone takes quite the effort. And neoDS doesn't have arg support, there just happens to be an extlink for it which was made a long while back. And it isn't pretty essential, nor has it ever been.
