I see, your explanations make sense.

But still, what's preventing games from other regions from working? I wouldn't think the big N would do something about that, since you have to get them from your channel anyway so it should be something more low-level, right?

Think it's some code checking or region coding. I might try installing a VC game in my US Wii but I'm little scared about testing that.

Got all released games working

The fact that it lets you download it after using the wad installer leads me to believe that it may be possible in the future for the Wii to 'think' you have purchased everything in the store.

So I tried installing the PAL VC games on my US Wii, no luck all I got was errors and I tried a few times but still no luck.

Cool. Just wondering how you got some of those games working. All I can find is an unpacked version of Donkey Kong, with no WAD packer available...

some n64 games have been updated to run in 60hz.

btw. there is a newq version of the wad installer:

Since NTSC users can't install PAL releases I think not.

But are they using chipped Wii's or just standard Wii's??

My chipped US NTSC Wii could not install PAL VC games and besides I think the VC games got some kind of region coding or region check.

Damn, thats a real shame, i dont really want the crippled PAL versions, id much rather have the fullscreen 60hz NTSC versions. Fingers crossed that some wiz will be able to remove this region lock from the VC games

Shame the PAL stuff doesn't work on NTSC systems....hopefully they will release it in NTSC, but who knows....since they seem to only release things they purchase...might be awhile.

Glad to see some progress though...
