Hacking Installing games from USB, not SD

I'm looking to download a few large titles through FunKii 2.0, but my SD card reader bit the dust.

If I transfer the files to an external HDD, is it possible to install the games from there, as opposed to from an SD card?

No (just because no wupinstaller implements USB drive support yet, which in turn is because the operating system doesn't support fat32 USB drives - without Mocha's patch which has another issue)
