I just hacked my Wii U about a month ago, and found this website absolutely incredible in walking me through. At this point, I have the Haxchi running (installed over the eshop DS game), I have used WUP Installer to successfully install games and updates on my USB drive, and they are running fine from the system menu. The next step that I would like to accomplish is to be able to install DLC that I can run from straight from bootup without having to navigate to Haxchi or any other source (I want anyone to be able to turn the machine on and play whatever is available). Here are some questions (some for confirmation):

1. Am I correct that I will need to install CBHC to be able to run DLC directly from the system menu, and that if I don't install CBHC, I will need to run DLC games through Haxchi?
2. If so, as I'm looking at the CBHC instructions, it appears that my Haxchi logo will be disabled and that I will need to cease to use it (but not delete it, lest I brick the thing). Currently that is how I'm accessing the WUP Installer, as that's my access point to Homebrew. Will I need to install Homebrew Launcher as a channel to access it, or is there something I'm missing in the CBHC install process that will give me access to Homebrew?
3. If I need to install a Homebrew Launcher channel, does it matter whether I install it before I have install CBHC or after?

Thanks for any advice! The warnings have me a bit more cautious than when I hacked the Wii, but I'm enjoying the results I'm seeing so far. Thanks to everyone who has done such a phenomenal job educating about the process.

  1. Yes, Haxchi/CBHC/CFW is required to launch pirated DLC
  2. Installing the Homebrew Channel is recommended, see how here. However, you can just press the HOME button while CBHC is loading to load a menu. You can load HBL from here
  3. No, it doesn't. You can load HBL to install it by using the above method.

1. you are correct. dlc requires cfw.
2. you can install the hbl as a channel, yes.
3. I'd recommend installing it before.

Thanks so much. Got both CHBC and the Homebrew launcher working fine. I had missed the option to press the home button at startup, which cleared up a lot of confusion for me, but went ahead and installed the launcher as well. The DLC works fine now.

Thanks to you both.
