Now that Majoras Mask is being released for the VC I was wondering if that would increase the likelihood of playing games that require the expansion pak? My first thoughts were DK and PD but I realised those were Rare games and probably wouldn't run.

Come to think of it, I don't know if theres any other games already available on the VC that use the expansion pak, so this could already be tried and failed, lol.

What I want to know is if a English Majora's Mask can be injected into the JAP one.
Would it be possible?

The only way to know is to try. I think it is the first expansion pack vc to be released. Developer has nothing to do with whether or not it will run.

This seems very likely, but I'm sure Nintendo is aware of the injecting of other games that goes on, so it wouldn't surprise me to see some kind of anti-piracy measure on it (not saying it will work, but it won't surprise me to see it exist).

Also, just because it's a RARE game doesn't mean it's not going to work, though it will really depend on how the wad is encoded. We'll find out soon enough.

EDIT: I see no reason why Nintendo couldn't add a check for the developer (should be stored in the header) to let it run or not. Something like this could, theoretically, get patched (for homebrew/piracy purposes), but it is definitely possible that it could happen.

OMG! when is Majoras Mask Coming out for VC?? that means DK, Banjo, and Conker would probably be able to be played

I have been looking forward to LoZ: MM coming out on the Virtual Console, which means this will open more doors for N64 injections.

Here are some other games that, use the Expansion Pak:
  • Aidyn Chronicles: The First Mage
  • Gauntlet Legends
  • Hybrid Heaven
  • Pokémon Stadium 2
  • Resident Evil 2
  • Road Rash 64
  • Shadow Man
  • Star Wars: Episode I Racer
  • Turok 2: Seeds of Evil
  • San Francisco Rush 2049
  • South Park
  • Donkey Kong 64
  • Conker's Bad Fur Day
  • Perfect Dark
  • Starcraft 64
Does this lead to open the question... will Goldeneye finally be injected and working properly?

Why?
What was bad about that?
It was too choppy and I think it only allowed 2 save files. Honestly, just running through town was the most piss annoying thing ever.

Did you play the original N64 version? it was pretty much the same... The framerate is only like 12-15 so it's very skippy. The game really pushed the N64 to it's limit with the draw distance.

I betting that the compatibility with those games will zero. Even with the current emulators only about 5 games work. Maybe injections with MM will lead to more games working, but overall I'm sure its going to next to none, of new games working.

Confused.

Everyone was always writing about how Rare games have some code or something at the beginning which only Rare games have and apparently thats what stops them from running or whatever, something along those lines as I remember. AFAIK there are no Rare games that work and I don't believe this release will make a difference. However, I do believe that games that were not working before will work now.

what...WHAT?!!?! majoras mask being released to VC? where did you hear this???

provide a link now or this is an aprils fools joke!!
