Money is no concern
I have heard they have done terrible to hacked consoles including completely disable them and force you to buy a new console with losing all your digital games
Say if they found usage of flash card when they found some files in your system provided by hackers or gateway.
And also for wii u if they found home-brew v wii or other home-brew, or a chip or sign of chip installation even if the player remember to uninstall them.

Well, I sent a 3ds with about 2000hrs of dstwo usage on it and ninty didn't do anything bad to it.
The repair fee was ginormous though.

Yeah, but what if that's gateway which you must install some files into the 3ds consule to get it work
Or what if it's modchips like wiikey or a installation of homebrew which you cannot delete when it's disabled

What's beside that chance
And it's just some little stretch on the touch screen

Ah, if they don't need to turn it on then it shouldn't be a problem.

You may also be able to repair it yourself by the way.
