Hacking Improoved Sd Card Speeds?

Looks like 3.4 makes copying and reading of sd cards faster. Is anyone working on a patch to give older firmwares these benefits without any of the bad stuff that would remove homebrew applications?

They're working on it. They've already patched the Mii Channel and are digging around in the other files to see how it all works.
