Android I'm new to Android, how can I root this?

I've got a brand-new Sony Xperia Play R800x, that is running 2.3.4, and I want to root it. What is the easiest, safest way to Root this phone, and it still run on 2.3.4? I'd like to keep it on the current firmware, but I really want to root it. I know I need to flash it back 2.3.3, but after that, where do I go? I know nothing about a good Kernel for 2.3.4, and I'd like to be able to keep that firmware. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
