Some more ideas:
-DS Download play app
-GBAtemp app with reviews/...
-Friend code manager app
-DVD (movie) loading from disc channel
-Load vc from SD/USB

Port some classic FPSes AND add online play! (I know quake n doom have already been done)

Other than that i'm just looking forward to emulators with netplay support.

PS: Browser with the ability to download files, and store them in their respective folder on the SD card (ea: Store .avi files in /Video Files, so you can then watch them with MPlayer CE or any other multimedia app

wii.nintendo.com — Nintendo's FAQ article on the Wii website has been updated with evidence suggesting that Wii units manufactured in 2007 have a locked away ability to play back CDs and DVDs.

You can already play dvd's. Just because it hints to it doesn't mean that there is. I'm guessing team twiizers would have said that it was possible if it was possible.

File manager (like PSPFiler for the psp)
Screenshot app.
1. Sd explorer
2. Impossible, we can't run apps and stuff in the background.

Ok, I wasn't aware of that app. (Guess I don't really want such a thing, else I would have had it already...)

And it might be impossible at the moment to run plugin type stuff. Who knows what the future may bring.
We have kernel access, so nothing is impossible (or am I wrong on this one ?)

It'll probably be possible once BootMii is out cause we will have control of our Wii

The FAQ actually says:
QUOTECan the Wii console playback music CDs and DVDs?

The Wii console released in the end of 2006 does not have the feature to playback music CDs or DVDs.
which doesn't mean that 2007 or later versions do have such a feature.

Ok so on the flipside, maybe any after the initial batches at the end of 2006 were produced, new production runs using cheaper less specific hardware were rolled out, and thus might... just might be able to read cd's: IF IT COULD BE UNLOCKED.

You can read that any way you want.

Its wild conjecture on both sides really.

It's always fun to see the things people think bootmii will do... Hah...

Well yeah.. Most of the ideas in this topic show that people think that anyone who codes can easily reverse engineer the system menu eg... Anyways, I just don't get it; why are people hacking the system menu? With lesser effort it would be possible to create a program with nice and clean interface that would be able to do it all; Even the plugin system if so wanted. Know that I dont know a fuckload about coding but something like homebrew channel, Mplayer, Channel launcher and either gecko os or backuplauncher, depending on are you a greedy pirate or not would, with pretty interface, would be exactly what people want, if I'm not terribly mistaken. Booted with preloader, of course. And now that I said it, that's what I suggest you to do.

Please, don't speak of that mame, it's a useless cheap sdl port.

What about a Wake-On-LAN app for the Wii that is able i.e. to wake your PC hosting all your media files for Mplayer-CE.
I started already a topic for this (see here)

Maybe your're the man for this....
