#Devlog 7
Hello.
I have been thinking a lot the past few days about the state of what I am working on. I'm not necessarily thinking about cancelling the Pixoware games I have planned. I don't think there's anything preventing me from making them. What I am concerned about is the target platform of the games.
It should be obvious to most reading this thread that I am a huge fan of the Game Boy Advance. I grew up playing it's game on the OG hardware, and on other consoles overtime. Ever since I discovered that you could actually make games for the Game Boy Advance, I always did want to make my own games for it, and I do intend to in the future regardless.
The current plan for the Pixoware games is to make them specifically for the Game Boy line. However, I am having my doubts as to whether this is a good idea. The Pixoware games are something that I do want to profit off of in the future if possible, and I truly do not think that making this a GBA exclusive series would get me to that goal. It sounds very greedy and unpassionate, but I do love my idea a lot, and I have a desire to make quality standalone entries in the series, but I also have to be real with myself. As much as I love programming for the GBA, making a batch of games that would be better suited on more accessible platforms for an outdated platform would feel like a waste of time if I'm being honest.
I do also worry that by choosing to change the target platform, it essentially makes the Pixoware games just like any other game, and makes it lose the unique factor of being Game Boy games. On the other hand, with it's limited palette of yellow & black, maybe it can achieve it's unique factor in that way instead.
That doesn't mean that I won't ever make other GBA games. In fact, I wouldn't rule out making a GBA game in the Pixoware lineup in the future, but I wouldn't make the platform the main focus.
I don't know, maybe I'm overthinking shit. What do you guys think?
