Nah, I think AKAIO 1.4.1 gives a message, 1.6 RC2 just whitescreens. Either way, it tells you if your Ak2i is a clone.

@qwertybanana It doesn't matter if you cut and paste or copy and paste, just move all of the data on your microSD to your computer, delete __aio and akmenu.nds files, then format the card. Then download AKAIO 1.8 from akaio.net and then put it onto your microSD. Then put all your data back on. Viola.

I never did understand why people say "format your card". I've never done it and I've been using AKAIO since 1.6..

So I have to put AKAIO 1.4.1 into my AK2i to check if it's real? Can't 1.8 tell?

yes it can, in fact that was implemented in AKAIO 1.7+

Oh. Alright. God. I've been using 1.7.1 and then 1.8.1 recently, but after seeing this post I had to download 1.4.1 to check. It was real all along, even without checking. I got scared.

My micro sd card is a 4GB kingston sd card.
What are the instuctions to format it???

Well now i've:
1) Formatted my sd card
2) Dragged _aio and akmenu4.nds file to my sd card
3) Dragged akfw_dsi update file
4) Waiting for me to use my friends ds lite
5) Can only do it after exams

PS: What does my saves have to end with for the akaio 1.8.0 to read it, is it:
.NDS.SAV
.NDS.sav
.nds.sav
or
.nds.SAV
it would be really helpful!!!??!!

I think it is just .nds.sav or .sav...

If your using a DS lite to update, you dont want the dsi file. You want the dsl.

Below is a quote from tk_saturn's guide to setting up your Acekard:

ak2ifw_update_141_DSi.nds is used to update a single cart, and can be used on the DS Lite, DS Phat and DSi FW =< 1.3.

ak2ifw_update_141_DSL.nds is used to update multiple carts and also unbrick an Acekard previously bricked by either update

And no pjmorie's website did not help me because in one part he said when you update it you'll get an alex rider icon but in another part he said you'll get a danny phantom icon

"On the 8th of September 2010 Nintendo released firmware update 1.4.1 for the DSi/ DSi XL, this update blocks the Acekard 2i from working even if it was previously updated with the 'Danny Phantom' 1.4 fix. In order for the Acekard 2i to be used on a console with firmware 1.4.1, you need to apply the the 'Alex Rider - Stormbreaker' 1.4.1 fix"

So from reading this it seems clear that if your Acekard is updated to the 1.4 fix you get the Danny Phantom icon, if you update it to the 1.4.1 fix you get the Alex Rider - Stormbreaker icon, and NO these icon's cant be changed.

Get a DSlite or DSPhat or DSi fw1.4 and run the ak2ifw_update_141_DSi.nds if you want to just update your AK2i.
