What is with people and shooting down series like Death Note and Code Geass... They're popular for a reason! Now I don't intend to bash your list, as I've watched a few of them as well and enjoyed it, but a lot of them aren't targeted to just anyone.
Naruto, Bleach, Death Note, etc have a certain degree of action, and (I generalize here) people have different tastes in the world, and I'm fairly certain most people who speak English like action or at least a certain degree of action in their films. I think it's a cultural thing because we see big blockbuster Hollywood movies and every trailer seems to have some sort of fight scene and the epic battles are the ones that are remembered.
Do you really believe the average teenager is interested in Kino's Journey or Clannad? Most of the movies you listed are fantastic in terms of production value, but did Spirited Away or My Neighbour Totoro really keep you on the edge of your seat? The guy started the post with how he loves Code Geass, clearly he's looking at a certain genre...
Death Note's first half was awesome. After you-know-what happens, the series completely tanks in quality. Likewise, Code Geass season 1 was incredible, and season 2 was crap.
But the rest of your argument is moronic.
I like action as much as the next guy - I recommended Samurai Champloo, Cowboy Bebop, Black Lagoon and Baccano! after all, but to say that "most people" or "most teenagers" only want action makes you look like a fucking idiot.

And yes, Naruto is overrated. People like yourself seem to think that it's amazing, but no, it's shit, just flat out shit. I'm not even talking about the anime or the manga specifically, the whole world, the characters, the plot, the fights, every single fuckin' part of it is just BAD. Hell, even Bleach is better than Naruto and that sucks too. But it's understandable that you can't see this, you clearly have no knowledge of anime at all. I can't really fault you for being ignorant when you simply haven't seen anything good. Why not check out that list I posted? Surely you can find something well-written in there that will make you realize your error in thinking Naruto is anything more than shit
