i read this somewhere (anti update Gateway)

    Im sure I read somewhere either on there site or in a release note, that:

    they were trying to develop an update to stop accidental updates to the nand, but that theyd given up as they ended up bricking some devices and didn't want users to do the same.

    makes me think maybe this bricking code came out of this development.

    First of all, thanks to everyone who has been testing our public beta.

    We mentioned previously that we would have a solution against accidental updates, but we decided not to release this just yet.
    While we did succeed in preventing accidental updates for our test 3DS unit, it took trial and error to get it in that state, and we bricked the unit many times before succeeding.
    Ultimately we decided that it was too dangerous for public use right now.

    So a bit of that code accidentally wasn't removed from 2.02b or is 2.02b with that dangerous fix?
