i need help with gmail on browser

when i do something on gmail on browser it doesnt save when i refresh the website or i open the gmail app on my phone.
for example; i mark an email as read on gmail on browser, then when i refresh the site it isnt marked as read

Perhaps it has to do with privacy settings on your browser, or if you're using an older PC, it could take longer to process the changes. Does it also do that if you navigate away from Gmail and then back again, or just when you refresh?
