For all you irrational R4 haters, read this...I agree with this post:

Point it: R4's not as dead as people think. It functions perfectly fine for me...
I stopped reading at the second sentence.....QUOTE(Amber Lamps @ Apr 6 2010, 03:38 PM) As long as it is an R4i RTS or R4i SDHC you're fine. If you have a cheap knockoff R4 then that may be why.
R4i SDHC -IS- a knockoff.
I'm not sure about the R4i RTS, I heard that the R4 RTS cards are from M3, who have permission(?) to use the R4 name.
Any R4 that supports SDHC or DSi is a FAKE. No If's, And's or But's about it.

And yes... R4 is -DEAD-. Period.
The official team is disbanded and hasn't offered an official update in over a year.
DSTT, which works on R4's via YSMenu, hasn't updated in a long time either and it's doubtful they'll ever update officially again.
Add to the fact that the unofficial support for DSTT by 'ashley and company' has also been stopped, people need to wake up.

Sure some new games work, but every new game is a crapshoot...
-- Will this game work?
-- Will someone make a fix for DSTT?
-- Will someone make a universal patch for the game?

R4 is dead. It's long past it's time and it was a hell of a ride while it lasted, but facts are facts.

/happy REAL R4 owner

Also, why people suggest getting an AceKard2i so adamantly is two fold...
1). It works. It might not have all the features like RealTime Save or Slow Motion or whatever gimmick some cards have, but it works with games VERY quickly.
2). It's cheap. For a small amount of money more than you could get some shitty "R4 SIAB* Super Ultra Mega that supports 400000 Petabyte MicroSDHC" clone, you could get a REAL AceKard2i, support a REAL team that gives REAL updates.

As soon as I got to this, I re-read your post (And I agree with it, OG R4 owners unite! and then you know, upgrade or something...) with The Lonely Island album stuck in my head.

? Dick-in-a-box ?
LOL! I remember the Christmas that was on SNL... That was some funny stuff.

It is cheap. I may have to get one now!! Thanks.

But the DSTWO looks pretty tasty. Hmm!!

Get an Acekard 2i and you'll never look back.

While Cyclo is currently a very good flashcart (my 2nd favorite), and the Supercard DSTWO looks like it'll also be a winner, I currently recommend the 2i. It does what you need and offers the best bang for your buck w/ AKAIO installed.

Get the 2i off ShopTemp for just $11.50:

THE R4 IS ALIVE AGAIN

Here's an idea:

1.) YSmenu + R4 + 3in1 for GBA games; Since you don't have to use a tool to load the games like Rudolphs etc.
2.) WoodRPG + R4 for regular NDS games!
3.) ???
4.) Profit.

Of course, the means either loading YSmenu from inside WoodRPG, or vice-a-versa, or having more than one SDcard. I've opted for each memory card having the other FW, and so far it's working great (Aside from my 3in1's dead battery.)
