Hi,

My brother has done the 9.4 update on my 2DS, so I have dôme questions.

-Is it better to wait Gateway update for compatibility with 9.4 ?

-Is it better to buy a Sky3DS (could I have some reviews about it) ?

-Should I sell my 2DS (I get it yesterday) and buy one with an older version ?

Thanks. :)

- Gateway hasn't announced any plans for 9.4 compatibility. Don't count on it.
- I personally would advise against it (from my understanding the card is rendered completly useless once Nintendo fixes it). You can find several reviews on this board.
- Yeah, I think independant from your flashcard decision you should do this. Sky3DS works on older firmwares as well and Gateway will support atleast 4.x and 7.x to 9.2. So... more options to you.

Ok thank you guys. ;)

But does Gateway wil be compatible with 6x version ? Because if I update my (maybe future) 2DS, it will go to 9.4 version...

And Kelton, how do you know that Sky3DS is unpatchable ?

Yes, it will be. If it will be in the next update or afterwards, we don't know.
And you can always update it to a specific firmware version using a game cartridge with that same firmware update if necessary.

Due to how it works. The Sky3DS emulates a card like a modchip for a disc-based console emulates a drive. Gateway also says they will release versions for older FW soon after the 9.0 update comes out.
wowowow where did you get all that information? as i stongly believe it is not true.

1) i never heard GW saying that (but that doesnt mean it is not true;))
2) sky3ds is patchable, very easily with around 1 line of code. Nintendo jsut has to figure it out

They're gonna release support for 7.0 - 9.2 maybe even lower than that!

It is not, but whatever.

you know that how? Are you part of Sky3DS' team? Or were you able to reverse engineer the card? Or are you just making a supposition based on how you think the card works?

edit: I'm not saying you're wrong or right. just asking really

A solution I've speculated about would be Nintendo monitoring the power usage of the cart and detecting when there is significant power use yet no game (while you are changing games) and then obviously rejecting the card ?

Has anyone else thought of any other ways you could potentially patch it ?

They are using a loophole in the cartridge emulation. 10.x will surely patch it.
