you sure you're mounting the nand and not writing to the nand backup?

Yes, I am positive. In the video it shows me mounting the NAND.

I am on 1.4.5U. Does that maybe have anything to do withTWNLF Not installing files to the NAND?

You're mounting the NAND image. It says "nand.bin mounted." Instead of pressing A, press X. (Even though X doesn't show up as an option.) That will mount the actual NAND.
