But that X icon doesn't show up on the Download Management icon...

The download management icon can undergo three different type of phases:

Red X - meaning a download is in there but can't be downloaded. This is usually the update trying to download but failing.

Normal not doing anything - This means that nothing is in download management at all and nothing is downloading

Glowing icon - means something is literally downloading, feel free to freak out if you see this happening to you.


It takes time for the red X to show up when you have Tubehax DNS setup. And trust me, it WILL show up eventually. That update is persistent and will never give up. But you're safe with Tubehas DNS so no worries. I know it can be uneasy not seeing the red X. But it only means that nothing is even in download management. We all would rather see the red X.
Even after I power off my Wii U, then power it on, it takes it's time before you'll see a red X. The Wii U basically starts off the download management with nothing in it. When the update fails to download, it won't carry into the next reboot. It will instead start over but fail again.

oH my GLOB! XDDDD the glowing ICON yes ! that shit happens to me nearly everyday when i play SSB XDDD and i always look closely at it and see it glowing thinking holy shit it must be downloading something and i do freak out !! but later on i check in the damn Downloadmanagment app and there is nothing in it XD im like phew ! hot damn! haha

btw. guys anyone, do you think there will be DLC for WiiU later on like we have DLC as Cia in 3DS ?! just asking ! possible in the future?

i have both has tubehax but yeah the red X is good it means it blocked the connection to the update server that you dont need at all to play online.

According to the definitive WIi U hacking guide, we set the secondary to 0.0.0.0 which theoretically, should not allow the Wii U to connect online if primary fails to work.
Works fine for me this way.

The glowing icon STILL occurs, but only for a split second and then stops. It's trying to initiate the update download, but will fail. I saw it on my Wii U once, but it was a false alarm.

And theoretically, once we're in the green with IOSU and signatures are patched, we should be able to get DLC one way or another I beleive.

I really hope we will can. eShop isn't officially available in my country, so credit cards can't be used, prepaid eShop cards aren't sold.

I just checked the update environment in Download Management and it was successful! I really want to get this sorted out before an update comes out.

Lol well maybe use a wifi hotspot that you turn off the moment you finiosh playinh, from your computer or phone, and also just to make extra sure unplug your wii u from power anytime you're not using it.
