Menuhax Wii U version FTW!
J/K
With quick start on wii U it shouldn't be that hard if the exploit is stable. You'd only need the exploit to be in your bookmarked home page on the browser and all you need to do is launch it directly on the gamepad even before the wii U starts on.

Yeah, but the use of internet scares me. I hope the new update blocker will be safe.

I'm sure Hykem is preparing an efficient way for blocking updates.
However you don't really need to use internet, you can always host the exploit locally using your computer or phone or router or even an sd card that has a wifi hotspot ^^.

Yeah, maybe an android app could be developed.

Is the latest FW available for Wii U still 5.5.0? I'm on 5.3.2 so should I update in preparation for this or should I stay on my current FW?
Anyone who wants to update to 5.5.0 while they are on 5.3.2 and lower I offer them a wii U with 5.5.0 for the 5.3.2 one ;)

I'm guessing iosu is the equivalent to Arm9 on the 3DS. Gain control of it, and you have the whole system. I'm sure it's not that simple though. The WiiU is a bit more complicated then the 3DS since it's a home console with better hardware and what not. :P

I almost want to get a Wii-U now, but right now I can't afford one. :(

I don't know about that. The Wii U is a lot closer to a normal computer than the 3DS. I mean right now we have a Wii U emulator than can struggle along at 20fps with some games where the best 3DS emulator, the system that came out first and is far less powerful, goes as, what? 4 fps? And that's after years of development.

It depends on how the emulators handle the games.

And? I was just saying that the Wii-U was more powerful then the 3DS and was more complicated. In what way did I say it wasn't? Besides how well two different platforms emulate on a PC doesn't always equate to the power of said systems. It's all about the architecture and who's willing to put work in to it.

The Wii-U definitely has more going on with it then the 3DS. There's more software and security layers. It's not just because it's more powerful. Perhaps it translated better to being emulated on the PC then the 3DS has thus far. By the way, it's likely we could have had a near fullspeed Wii-U emulator if the console was hacked earlier. If it had exploits found and used around the same time the 3DS had, things would certainly be different right now.

Were you somehow trying to say the 3DS was better in some way?

There's probably a host of other reasons why Citra hasn't progressed as fast as it could have. But lets not have that argument. :P

The kernel exploit...
I you're talking about 5.4.0 firmware, as I said before it is the same one used on 5.3.2, but you still need the browser exploit to run it, the one browser exploit we use on 5.3.2 was patched on 5.4.0 that's why it got released back then, and then the kernel exploit was patched on 5.5.0 that's why it was released to which made 5.3.2 the perfect firmware for anything released. I hope you understand better now, if you don't I invite you to read the definitive hacking page, it has all the information you need

I don't know what are you basing your claims on but based on what the devs said before, 3Ds has better security than Wii U. The only reason 3ds was hacked first is because of the communities interest, you got much more users and hackers interested in 3Ds than in the Wii U.

Pardon my ignorance then. I have yet to own a Wii-U. I had always assumed it was more complicated because it wasn't hacked until recently. I was under the impression that was because of lack of interest and the 3DS being more popular combined with it having stronger security. So the fact it isn't is certainly news to me. :P
