How will Switch emulators likely perform on future hardware

They're not getting much support and it will stay that way for the foreseeable future. It makes me wonder how the emulators will perform on hardware released next year and in 5 years time.

Nobody ever knows. I've seen the Steam Deck run Switch games far beyond the Switch's hardware limitations.
 
Hardware will only get faster so everything that runs fine now will only run smoother.

As for things that don't run or don't work properly, someone will pick up the emulator development again.
Currently Nintendo is just being Nintendo, getting all afraid that someone might be able to emulate the Switch2 before they release it.
So everyone lays low until this storm passes by.
