Hi,

I have a PS3 slim with custom firmware installed. The internal HDD of the ps3 is just around 250gb, and I would like to upgrade to a 1tb HDD.

SO basically, I would bring all the data and games I have on the internal HDD and move the new one, how I do that?

Thanks

I tried this and ended up using the built in copy fiction as Avalyn says.
You need to install the system from a USB after the swap.
You can try the dd command in Linux, I've read somewhere it works. But the new drive will be the same size as the old

Any of the methods in the above link will work. Only thing worth mentioning is that if it asks you to reinstall the firmware after replacing the disk, immediately reinstall the CFW. Do not install OFW or you'll need to jailbreak again.

Just a little tip: Do yourself a favor and buy a SSD instead. Yea, the PS3 isn't able to use the speeds of it, but the system still runs faster in general and the temperatures are a little bit lower. Besides that, the system is a bit more quiet.
1TB SSDs cost nearly the same compared to HDDs if you get a good offer on Amazon.
