How to update to system menu 4.2 so that I can use the shop channel (and don't get HBC deleted)

k, first off, you don't need to update your system menu to access the shop channel.

Use NUSdownloader (wiibrew.org)

download the latest version of the shop channel. Select Pack>Wad.

install the resulting wad file.

there you go, newest version of the shop channel is installed.
