Nevermind.

Pro tip for those that are upgrading from very old CFWs (3.40OE-A and the like)
Turn off your PSP by holding the power switch for 5 seconds.
Turn on the PSP again while holding the R button to access the RECOVERY MENU.
In the recovery menu (as I cannot remember the exact heading) find the option that is "Default Homebrew Folder".
If the option is set to something like "1.50" the press X until it says "3.40"
After doing the above, pick "exit" to return to the normal PSP XBM.
Now choose the Recovery Flasher again and follow the tut on the first page as directed WORD-FOR-WORD (Best way to prevent common n00b error and BRICKING)

Now I can play my N+ and Phantasy Star Portible!

By the way, Phantasy Star Portable appears to be a direct follow-up to Phantasy Star Universe.
Now I just need to compress the ISO file to a CSO, I guess that is all trial and error till I find the right compression setting.

Happy Hacking!

Updated guide.
Can someone tell me what's the lowest version of GEN you can be on to upgrade to Prometheus?
I've included just 5.50 GEN D (Took out GEN D3 since nobody wants that). I'm just not sure you should be on GEN D2.

Well, it works. I'm now rockin' Prometheus on my new PSP. A million thanks to absolutely anyone who worked on this.

This says D3

Are there any plugins for GEN to get the Memory Speed hack? If not any way to get CSO to run perfectly like they do on M33 without any crashes?

I also thought that the Prometheus firmware gave trouble to older games...

There is the MS Speed up Hack for GEND3. But it's not compatible with Prometheus. One of the system modules conflict with the modules installed by Prometheus.

I have a God of War PSP Slim, which the Internet tells me means my PSP has a TA-088v2 motherboard. I want to follow this guide to softmod my PSP, but the table says that TA-088v2 motherboards cannot create Pandora. My PSP's at OFW 6.2, so I need to downgrade. However, the guide says that to downgrade I need to use Pandora's battery.

Since my PSP cannot create Pandora, does that mean I can't downgrade, or is there a workaround?

I'm possibly misunderstanding the table: by saying that TA-088v2 cannot "create Pandora," is it saying that it can't create a Pandora's battery in just the softmod way (like this video, for instance) or is it saying that I can't cut the wire on the battery to produce Pandora's battery?

You will have to buy a pandora battery for like 6 dollars. I also had a GoW psp with 6.20 and downgraded. You just need to buy one.

Urgh. I hate it when people do not read the previous posts. As he said, "You will have to buy a pandora battery for like 6 dollars. I also had a GoW psp with 6.20 and downgraded. You just need to buy one."

You can find them cheap on Dealextreme. You will also need a memorystick that supports magicgate

How to update to 5.50 Prometheus;[/b]
  • Download XGEN 5.50 GEN-D3
Copy the UPDATE folder to ms0:/PSP/GAME/
& copy the 550.PBP to ms0:/ (The root of the memory stick)
Run the update from your PSP BE CAREFUL ON WHAT YOU PRESS.
    Download 5.50 Prometheus
    Copy the folder to ms0:/PSP/GAME/
Run the update from your PSP
You now have the latest CFW on your PSP! You can delete everything that was on your PSP.

I've never done any kind of modding for the PSP before so I'm really kind of clueless right now. Is this all you have to do in order to update? I have a PSP that's already modded and it's currently at 5.00 M33-6. I've read somewhere that you have to install to 5.50 Gen D then to Gen D2 then to Gen D3... Is this true? Or can I just install to 5.50 Gen D3? (It's a stupid question, I know, but I'd just like to confirm because I'm really confused. ^^;;) Lastly, I read someplace that when you update, your battery has to be at a certain percentage or sommat. O_o Is this also the case? I dunno. I guess what I'm just trying to find out is, will it work out alright if this is all I do (the quoted stuff, I mean)? I guess I'm just paranoid because it seems too simple, considering my sibling does not want to try updating it herself because she thinks it's too 'complicated'. @_@

Well, you have 2 ways of updating to 5.50 GEN-D3 : One is the installer, which (IIFC) needs battery of 78%+ 5.00m33-X to install the CFW, and the other one is the flasher, since you can now use Hellcat's Recovery Flasher to install 5.50 GEN-D3 directly on your PSP, no matter the CFW version.

Prometheus needs Anything above D2, including.

Page 1's text on the 200x series is outdated right? Because I know my friend has a 200x series and it you can turn off the power and restart and not have to reinstall the hacks...... whats the word on this? I am looking to get a psp next week so need to get all my information together

(if it helps, I will be getting a japanese model, not a new one in stores and will definitely check versions so it can be hacked/etc.) Getting Japanese version because I will be there for a week. I know there is no difference between the editions, besides some countries getting limited color or pack editions.

That's because he has a hackable 200X.
The information you was reading is about semi hackable 200x/300x

Ok so to tell if it is fully hackable......I cant do anything but open it and install that stuff....meaning i am shit out of luck when buying it to tell if it is fully hackable or not?
