How to set a thumbnail on a video

instead of it displaying a frame from the video, I would like to know if I can set it as a picture or a box art of a movie. This would be very appraised if someone knows a way

As far as boxart goes you can do it for things like MKV (assuming they bothered to embed something) but for other things it gets tricky.
There are other programs good at thumbnails as well https://www.raymond.cc/blog/display-thumbnail-preview-video-files-windows/ covers a few.

For the most part though I would suggest installing something like XBMC that has a scraper (or indeed multiple) that can do title art for you (and you can also manually set things if needs be).
