So there was an error on my switch and I decided to initialize it to try and fix it, but before I did that I copied the nintendo folder on my sd card to a hard drive in order to save my games and saves. After setting up the console again and adding atmosphere, hekate, etc. I tried moving the nintendo folder back to the sd card, but whenever I turn on my switch it tells me that I have to erase the data on the sd card in order to use it. I tried finding out which folders the games were in but they're all encrypted since I downloaded them from tinfoil. Is there any way to figure what games are on my sd card in order to redownload them or am I screwed?

Your game saves are stored in user partition (either in emmc on console or emummc on sd card), not in nintendo folder.

Also if you are running custom firmware, the nintendo folder you copied is only for ofw. The one for emummc is in sd:\emuMMC\RAW1\Nintendo

To decrypt nintendo folder you can use this tool, it hasn't been updated in years so idk if it still works.

If you used partition based emummc then the data is gone, emummc is stored at the end of your sd card space and is overwritten when you created a new one. Since it's a raw partition and the user partition is encrypted, idk if there's any data recovery tool that will work with it.

If you used file based emummc then there's still a chance you can recover your game saves, scan the sd card with any data recovery tool, you might be able to recovery your old emummc files in sd:\emuMMC\

@anotherthing, DS HomeBrewOS is the Ace3DS+ cart. I'm currently using my Gateway Blue card for playing some of my titles, compatibility is great but games with AP checks need patching. :P

It's not a HUGE deal, but it triggers what little OCD I have.

Most of the XXX in 1 cards are Ace3DS+. I have ONE that's an R4 clone.

@anotherthing, I've got quite mild OCD. When I am instructed to do something, I just can't focus on anything else.

@anotherthing, Which R4 clone? Purple shell?
  • A @ anotherthing:
No, I believe it's a yellow shell one. I watch that DNA gaming guy sometimes and he recommended a specific R4 cartridge. So I got the one he recommended, and that XXX in 1 was the exact one he recommended.
  • A @ anotherthing:
The XXX in 1 cartridge was black. I don't even remember which one of the XXX in 1 cartridges it was.
  • A @ anotherthing:
But the R4 he recommended was yellow.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@anotherthing, So it would be an R4 SDHC Gold Pro in yellow.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
The XXX in 1 cartridge was prob Ace3DS+ or some other cart afaik.

It's the only one I have with a different firmware.

@anotherthing, Kernel or firmware as in the flash chip?
    +1
  • A @ anotherthing:
Nah, the software on the card itself.

  • A @ anotherthing:
I would assume the firmware is also different, since something has to tell it what to load.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Yeah, the kernel software is different depending on where you buy it from.
  • A @ anotherthing:
    Okay, it's X1 R5 G5 B5

And my icon matches everything else.

Great. There shouldn't be any problems adding them. A file called "theme.res" will be on the SD card, it's a renamed ZIP file so you can open it up with any ordinary software, such as WinRAR. Then add the icon to the resource file. You will need to make sure to specify it in the config.
  • A @ anotherthing:
And I left a note for myself in my icon directory. Heh.

That S8DS emulator is pretty amazing.

That's like a lot of Master System games. The JenesisDS emulator is quite good as well.
  • A @ anotherthing:
It does GameGear, the SG-1000, Master Tech Arcade, Coleco, MSX, and a few other things. Pretty good stuff there.
