Ok so I have a few old cartridges which has awesome data on it and I do not want to lose the data when the batteries die. I was figuring I could use a flash card somehow to pull data from the gba cartridge and put it on a blank sd card and keep my data awesome. How should I go about this?

There's actually not a battery in GBA games. Only in a select few that use RTC. If you want to dump saves use GBA EXPloader.

Gba exploder? I am not familiar with it. but the problem I have had with games like the gba fire emblems and ffta is that after awhile all my save data is gone. And when I restart and re save then turn off and back on all the new data is gone. I want to back up my data or transfer if to a pic to put it on an emu of some sort.

This gba exploader, is it something you have to buy? I am kinda stupid here, and am also looking to buy an R4i? card for the ds as well, but that is another story.

GBA Exploader and the GBA dumping tool are pieces of DS homebrew and are available for free.

You need to run them on a DS slot flash cart, which, if you just needing DS/DS lite compatibility, can be had for next to nothing these days (get a flash cart but make sure it is compatible with Wood). If said cart also needs to work on a DSi or 3ds then you will probably be told to get a DStwo as the only real alternatives get blocked for good every other update.

ds slot flash cart such as the R4-DS? I would be running the flash cart on a dsi lite. I just want something that would run my save files and be able to use cheats like a Ln action replay and play roms.
