Hacking How to make my R4i SDHC work on 3DS or DSi?

I really can't afford to buy any newer flashcard any soon, as they are very hard to come by in Poland since the NDS were never really popular over here.
The sad thing is I just recently remembered that I have a flashcard, which is R4i SDHC, while all of my systems are updated... The 3DS is 6.1.0-12E, the DSi 1.4.5E. On the both systems I get the well known error. I have the latest wood update and everything, still nothing.
I understand why wouldn't it work on the 3ds; but the DSi? This update is around for a long time already... Formatting the system didn't work either.

Is there any patch or something?

As far as getting a flash cart, most people order online. Flash carts come from China, anywhere else is just importing and then re-selling them, and physical stores that do this tend to have really shitty selection. In case you need to get a new one, order a decent one online.
