How to delete game updates using DevMenu without going to maintenance mode

because i had this problem today, and the mainiaince mode didn't help, i found another way, maybe it was found by other users, but i thought it will be a good idea to write about it.

let us begin

let's take for example Super Mario Odyssey, you are on low FW and you don't want to update because you installed nsp update for the game, just go to DevMenu (South park or Pokemon Quest or Bayonetta or any other method)
SX OS 1.4 now supper DevMenu on 4.1

after entering devmenu here how it will looks

we go to the game and press +

then we go to "Manage"

QghWkf8.jpg

then "Reset RequiredVersion" or just select the patch or the DLC you want to delete, then press OK.

q03oRZr.jpg

then OK, this will not delete the save game, just the update.

here is another game with patch and DLC (Zelda BOTW)

GWjO1PT.jpg

you can select the patch alone and delete it, or just one of the DLCs.

after that the game will not ask you to update.

Great! Thanks! A question... do you know if you can install .nsp files on the Nand without any problem? Is that I have the memory of the empty Switch and my SD is 32GB and in my country is not so easy to acquire an SD... Thanks in advance!

Or an easier way “the official way” let’s say, just go to “manage” highlight the “Patch” or even “Add on Content” dlc if you want select it press A and press “delete” that will just delete the required update or dlc if you wish, you can literally delete anything with the title that is shown in the Application ID box.

Highlight your game from the Devmenu in front of you in Application column, bring up the options to the title by pressing + go down to "Manage", bottom right hand corner press A and this will bring the titles list up with it's contents then either select "Patch" for updates or "Add-on-Content" for DLC, go down to which one you want to delete, press A again and select Delete or Cancel to go back to the menu again remember you have to have these installed first I know that sounds a bit silly me asking but I'm just checking.

oh, i thought when you said “the official way” you meant the system settings without any hacks.

No not at all, sorry! I meant that was the official way in the devmenu to delete your updates & add on content I don't think you should really click on Reset Required Version because this will delete everything installed on the title, you may not want to do that, you may just want to delete the updates or dlc etc.. separately.

Does south park works on 3.0.1? Then it should works too.

I don’t know if it has been mentioned before, but South Park the fractured but whole works on 4.1.0
But we can also install devmenu as nsp

ShouthPark running 4.1.0 fine just use airplane mode or dns

I dont find more about..
I dont Think it Works in 3.01 but i have to look which keygeneration it has...

Dev menu nsp only works on 5
Unless there is another version that works on 4

Question, if you are already on 3.0.1 and not 3.0.0, are you waiting for dejavu? 4.1 is still the same.

I dont believe that 3.01 is the same as 4.1 is
A Other Exploit thats patched above 3.01 can Anytime be Discoverd ... it gives more as One hacker and much more entrypoints that cannot run above 3.01 or 3.02

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
