I'd like to ask you guys if this method is the best to avoid getting banned:

1- Start with SYSnand clean (brand new console), delete wifi settings and enable airplane mode

2- turn the console off put the sd card in (fat32), launch hekate > tools and backup eMMC > eMMC BOOT0 &BOOT1 and then EMMC RAW GPP (make sure auto RCM is DISABLED) and save the backup in the computer.

3- turn the console off put the sd card in, launch hekate and then tools > Arch bit - RCM - Touch - Partition > partition the sd card, then create emuMMC > SD partition > part 1 > close > change emuMMC > RAW1

4- turn the console off , launch inject incognito.bin payload >incognito emuMMC

5-turn the console off, remove the sd card and copy atmosphere, sept, switch and nbmenu.ro into the root of the sd card.

remote this part from the file bootloader\hekate_ipl.ini

Code:
{--- Custom Firmware ---}
[CFW (SYSNAND)]
emummc_force_disable=1
fss0=atmosphere/fusee-secondary.bin
atmosphere=1
logopath=bootloader/bootlogo.bmp
icon=bootloader/res/icon_payload.bmp
{}

6- put the sd card back in and launch hekate > launch > CFWemuMMC

Don't connect to the internet at all and use the sd card directly to copy hombrew files to install them.
Copy and install NSP, XCI only using Tinfoil over usb (need sigpatches).

To boot into OFW turn the console off, remove the sd card and press power.

To boot into CFW follow step 6.

Update the OFW online and don't pay attention to burning fuses, update CFW using ChoiDujourNX.

Once your emummc/emunand has incognito, wether or not you connect to the internet is completely redundant(makes zero difference whatsoever). Excluding that, its generally the method most use for safety.

But is there a possibility that the mac address could be somehow linked to the serial number? They must have a huge database..

Without prodinfo, which incognito removes, you can’t connect to nintendo servers at all. So apart from the fact it wouldn’t be linked to your sysnand even if it could, all you can connect to are things like hbg and non nintendo related homebrew.

Avoid getting banned? Simple, don't pirate. I'm on clean EmuMMC for quite a while now, playing games, connecting to Ninty's network. Not banned.

I always recommend to back up eMMC SYS as well. Often that's all you need to recover from an accidental brick or other issues and by only restoring SYS your user data (games, saves) is left alone. Plus it only takes 2GB more space.

You should enable Incognito in exosphere.ini, and optionally also use 90DNS, to make it safe to use online in homebrew.

That boot entry is not in the standard hekate_ipl.ini. It comes from Kosmos and its derivatives. The default comes without any boot entries and those must be added manually.

On emunand I use 90DNS, incognito exosphere & Tinfoil - probably overkill but no problems so far!

Ok but I thought if you update your sysnand OFW via Nintendo and burn fuses you won’t be able to put your switch in RCM anymore. No? Cuz my sysnand is still on 9.0 cuz of this fear lol

Can you elaborate on the eMMC sys part? So in case of a brick I could just restore eMMC SYS first and if that doesn’t work then the whole backup..

What’s the difference between enabling exosphere.ini vs incognito_rcm payload directly?

It's where the firmware is contained (other than boot0/boot1)
Exosphere is temporary instead of modifying PRODINFO, so it only applies when CFW is booted. If you use emuNAND, then that doesn't really make a difference.

Btw if I install a malicious app by mistake and I brick the emuNAND can I just format the SD card and start all over again? Why would I need to restore the sysNAND if it’s running separate from the SD?

I hope Nintendo wouldn’t be implementing a jailbreak detection through the joycons or flag the console based on how many times it has been in RCM mode. I don’t know, I’m thinking out loud. If they don’t do that then it might be impossible to detect the jailbreak.

If you format the emuNAND you lose all your games and saves. Same with restoring rawnand.

Isn't file based Emu almost/just as fast as partition now? I'd use file-based if I were just starting out. Makes it much easier to backup/transfer your files that way I'd guess.

I'm already banned though so no point for me.

Emunand+Incognito= keeping the sysnand clean for legit play. Everything else you heard about SD files detection or mac address bans are just speculations that have never happened. I have an sxos switch and an atmoshpere switch (1 with offline piracy and the other for homebrew) with the same setup both accounts are still fine for 2 years.

So installing NSP games on internal storage should be fine (sd card), because emummc isn't running on sysNAND.. correct?
