no, you need to remove the protective case to dock it cuz it wont fit on the dock if the switch wears it.
but it doesnt matter for me cuz i play it all the time in handheld mode.

if you want to protect the screen, its good,
but if you want to protect the whole system from fall or from dust,
i suggest you to buy also a carrying case which i also have one, the hori carrying case. the system does fit even with my protective case.

Hey! I have been looking for a normal, bag-like case, but this one may be a good alternative. Does it fit perfectly in the dock?

The case on the switch itself is extremely quick and easy. Something like 5 or 6 screws and the back pops right off.
The joycon are a little tougher, but not by much.
The buttons feel fine, but a couple required a tiny bit of sanding to make them fit properly. There was a bit of extra plastic that hadn't been cleaned up from the mold.
As it replaces the shell on the switch, it's a perfect fit in cases and the dock, as if it hadn't been replaced at all.
