    Hey all, a few problems....

    I'm on a 3.2U wii, downgraded from 4.0U.
popped in the disk for wii sports resort, walked away, and the wife got a bit anxious and did the update. Now the wii does nothing, i get a blue screen. (default for my tv when theres no input).
Where do i go from here? is there anything i can do?
I've got a drivekey, and the wii was soft modded, but i think that's a moot point now.
any help would be greatly appreciated.

I believe if you have Preloader, Bootmii, or some other pre-boot program that can jump to Homebrew Channel, you can reinstall your system menu using AnyRegionChanger and it should get it working again.

If not, you might need a boot disc or SaveMii...

If you had nintendo's 4.0 on your Wii, the IOS used by 3.4 system menu was replaced by a not working one. After updating to 3.4, your system menu IOS is that not working system menu IOS.

    Possible solutions:
    - have BootMii as boot2 installed, and just do a nand restore
    - if you have one of the good Wiis, get BootMii as boot2 on your Wii via infectus
    - don't know if the update function via disc works on your stub IOS if you would get your hands on a 4.0 game.

Preloader would be deleted by the system menu update, so that can't help you if you had it installed

I hope you have BootMii as boot2 or my analysis of your situation is wrong

Unfortunately, i don't have bootmii on boot 2, i was only able to install it to SD, because my boot 2 wasn't vulnerable.

Could somebody confirm that there's the 3.4 update on the Wii Sports Resort disc?

True, cannot get anything to run on my wii. I've been hearing an autoboot disc might fix it, if i can find one with a higher update. anyone know what Wii titles have 4.0 on them?

Autoboot discs will not fix a wii if the system menu will not load. You need to be able to use at least savemii(frii) to even have a shot at an autoboot disc.

From what you indicate (no output from the wii at all), that is not the case. I don't believe it can be unbricked, since you do not have bootmii as boot2...

    For future information:

Just for laughs, I once tried to update via a stub IOS30. (Bootmii boot2+Backup, then stubbed my system menu IOS intentionally) As expected, it bricked. Couldn't even get to recovery menu to update via disc. Tried anyway using friend's game with 3.4 on it but was unsuccessful.

Used bootmii to boot to HBC and reinstall a good IOS30.

Would the Universal Unbrick Disc work? Just curious... You could use that.

System menu doesn't run = full brick
Nothing you can do. Send it to Nintendo.

If you have a cIOS installed you could try a rescue disc that runs on IOS249, but I'd say your chances are VERY slim.
Since afaik the auto disc loading code is part of the system menu and that won't run without it's IOS.

A disc is only good if you can run them. Because he can't load the system menu and doesn't have bootmii, there is no way to run discs...or anything for that matter. For this, it seems the next stop = Big N...

I have almost the exact problem as you only that the disk that bricked it was THE CONDUIT. If you figure something out please tell me.

well, this is fantastic. the only thing i haven't tried, is the SaveMiiFrii with an original nintendo GC controller, i've only got 3rd party stuff. should i even bother? or should i bite the bullet and call the big N?

The recovery menu is part of the system menu the system menu runs on IOS, IOS is stub, the system menu won't run, so....
    you get my drift.
    Just send it to nitnendo.

They rpobably won't know about homebrew or the drivekey. But if you are out of warrenty your going to have to pay for the repair.

It is possible that they could find homebrew traces, most unlikely though, they'll send you a refurb, but take out the DriveKey.

k, drivekey removed, just got off the phone with big N, they said i'm good under warranty, and when they fix it, i'll have another year. so all in all, some headache, but nothing too awfully bad. hopefully i get a refurb that i can install bootmii on. lesson learned.

Surely if he had a modchip there was no problem? Pinkfish anyone?

But if you're sending it to the Big N, tell them you were doing a system update and your power went out.
