Why do you think I said it? The nr.1 reason is the coilwhine from the gaming rig is high pitched, and I can't stand high pitch noise. The Laptop sounds like a vaccumcleaner.

My liquid cooler keeps my PC fairly quiet. The video card fans are like a low hum. The other fans are 240mm fans and don't make any noise its nice. When I first got them I thought they where not on lol.

It's actually my PSU that is coilwhining. The fans on the Noctua DH-15 is really quiet! I just haven't gotten around to RMA it yet. My Video card is deadquiet except when I play something that goes about 70C. Else it seem to be passive cooled.

Buckle up kids its going to be a long one.

Ok lets do some basic math for you. We will round down to 50$ to keep it simple for you. My bill was 100$ I stopped using the pc for the entire month while continuing using everything else like I norm do and my bill went down to 50$ so that's a savings of 50$. I would use my PC for between 6 and 8hrs in a day. We will use 8. So if I left it on 24/7 it would triple my usage because 8x3=24. So the cost for the month would be 150$ because 3x50=150. The cost for a year would be 1800$ because 150x12=1800. Instead of 600$ because 50x12=600. So by doing what I normally do instead of leaving it on 24/7 I'm saving 1200$ a year because 1800-600=1200. Please tell my how my usage would be cheaper than having to replace a cheap part if it happens to die. I could build an entire new PC every year with that money and still have a couple hundred left over. I have had this pc for 4 years or more at this point and the only thing I had to replace was my gpu because someone didn't pack crap right when we moved(hint it wasn't me) and a psu because the wife put a box behind my PC and blocked the psu vent and it cooked itself. So lets just say its only been 4 years. 4x600=2400 so it has cost me 2400$ to power it all these years. Now if I left it on 24/7 the bill would be 7200$ because 4x1800=7200. That means I saved 4800$ because 7200-2400=4800. Now lets add in the cost of the 2 parts I had to replace just for shits and giggles. Psu was 130 was on sale for 100 and had a 25$ mir making it 75. The gpu cost me 200 to replace. So I spent 275$ replacing parts because 200+75=275. That means my total cost for use over the years was 2675$ because 2400+275=2675. Please tell me how 2675$ is more than 7200$

Never turn off my Desktop. It runs 24/7. My Surface I usually shut down just because it's not plugged in all the time (even though the battery can last a couple days in sleep mode) and it starts up and shuts down super quick.

I don't really use my laptop since getting a surface, so it been off for a while, but it doesn't have the greatest cooling so I did shut it down when no in use. When it was still under warranty I had to send it in because the Wifi stopped working, they said it was heat damage to the antenna.

I love it. Best purchase I have ever made. Since I bought it I don't touch my laptop. Does everything my laptop did in a smaller form factor and easier to carry around.

I have never been able to get in to using an iPad or Android tablet because to me, those things are really only good for games. If I need to get real work done they aren't worth it. The surface give you a portable PC so I can work on my Desktop and pick up where I left off on my surface.

Good to know. The wife like the size of her android tablet but doing anything besides browser shit and games was a pain in the ass. So I got her a cheap laptop(bad idea) its fairly slow so I was thinking of getting her a surface at some point.

Ya i tried the Android and iPad route and that's really all they are good for, browsing and games. I was excited to have a small form factor device to carry around, hated them both.

The surface is super quick and runs Butter smooth. I use Photoshop and Audition on it without a hiccup.

I always leave my laptop in hibernation mode whenever I'm not using it. Saves battery power too!
