It's a cechl01 80gb ps3 with 2 usb ports (not sure if this is important but the little logo is titled). I remember the fw being 4.5x, would it be more valuable if it was 3.55? Finally is this ps3 backwards compatible?

Thank you.

I think it would be less than 90$. If it was on 3.55 that would be more valuable.
And this model is backward compatible.
I'm saying that price because i recently bought a slim ps3 for 100 €. But it was on 3.55 and take make the price go up.

About the backwards compatibility, I've heard that is only bc if it's at low enough fw to run emulation software. Is this true?

Here in the netherlands (europe) they are about 50-60euro max (+/-68 dollars), even shops sell them for this amount.
I bought a slim wich could be modded for 60 euro + controller +game.

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way

it says it only works for the original R4, R4i Gold (r4ids.cn), R4iDSN (r4idsn.com) and Acekard R.P.G.

Just give it a try, but honestly if you have a 3DS you can play DS games without a card just off the internal SD card
