I understand that from a programming standpoint, it's a lot easier to produce a hidden object game than it is to make ,say, an RPG or SHMUP. But just how many of these games do we need? It seems at least ten of these pop up every week. I enjoy the occasional HOG, but once you've played one you've really played them all. Just because they can be produced so quickly doesn't mean they they should. Is anyone else with me, or am I just crazy?

It's not that they can be produced quickly, it's that they can be produced cheaply therefore they stand to make a profit even if only a few hundred copies are sold worldwide. It's just good business sense - they'll stop making them when people stop buying them.

thx, didn't know what you guy's are talking about:.
mmmh, since i don't play shovelware games i don't worry about it, the publishers' should do what they want as long as they release also good games from time to time:. no one is forced to play crap [IMG] , so just stay away [IMG]

Well I suppose there are a lot of people that actually do enjoy them, my mom's one of 'em.
She's bugging me once every couple of days to get her some new ones.
