Hacking How is this harddrive for the USB Loader?

It seems like a great value and is in the Wiki listed as working, however the device name has "Western Digital MyBook 750 GB external HDD - Essential Edition (i think)" Which does not leave me very certain. Can anyone verify that this HDD works before I spend $80?

Oh wow that is a great deal. But I think you can only create partions up to 520gb(correct if wrong) as of USB/SD loader 1.5. But I'd buy that(If i had enough money),and if it doesn't work,sell it on ebay as a "limited edition wii hard drive"

I was looking at that exact deal as a Wii drive. I decided 750GB was overkill for the wii. I think i rather get a 2.5" external so I don't have to mess with a power adapter.

No no, you CAN use partitions up to .....w/e.....but the app USB Loader has problems adding games in partitions above 512GB, that's why you'll need a GUI in your PC to add and manage your games, the last WBFS Manager from El_Mesias is the best one I've ever seen, search for it...!!

The 512GB partition issue was fixed in 1.5

Not that there's really any reason to use 512+GB for Wii games anyway.

Be warned of one thing with WD drives. If it is affected by the spin-down issue, you will NOT be able to fix it unless you break open the case and connect the drive via SATA to you PC. And that's not even a guarantee it will work.

Stick to Seagate and Maxtor drives that can have their spin-down feature disabled.

There is some people here that really has more than 600 games for the Wii

so the 512GB+ is needed in special extremely cases..!!

Office depot has the 250gig seagate 2.5" usb2 drive for $69.99 plus it comes with a free docking station and case.

Castco has the 1.5TB Seagate external usb2 drive for $109 on coupon.

Costco has a 320gig USB2 2.5" Toshiba for $72

I've picked up a 640gig Seagate at Office Depot for $95. 3.5" Style w/ the external power.

Bitch of it is, the USB loader doesn't always recognize it, so I have to power cycle the HD sometimes. Once it's running, it stays, but getting the initial connection is annoying.

Never had that problem with my 80gig WD My Book.

This is the exact same one i use.Works great although you will need to turn off the sleep feature before using it but its not hard to do.
Right now i have 34 games on it and only 56gb of space used.
