How do you Partition an External HDD?

I have a 1TB External HDD that I will be using mainly for my Laptop but I also want to use it for my Wii.

I've never had the pleasure of making a partition before (I googled it it gave me crap)
So how would I go about making a partition on my external HDD?
I'm looking for specific instructions

you can use this tool to partition any HDD and home use i free. stick witFAT32 cluster size 32kb when making a drive for the Wii
all the best usb loaders support it and grab WiiBackuoManager off one of GBAtemps forums to convert your games to .wbfs extension.

Start > Rightmousebutton on Computer > Manage > Disk Management.

That's the disk management screen of windows.
From there you can rightmousebutton your HDD, and select an option.
If you want to totally repartition it, I would backup my data if there is any in it. Then delete the partition already on the disk, and then just make new partitions by going through the wizards.

Same as you would an internal HDD.
Just remember you can't do that on a USB stick.
