Hello, I'm trying to save on Zelda Phantom Hourglass, and it almost always keep saying that the save file is corrupted.
I heard I need to change the savetype to 4MB, but how?
*I'm afraid of doing update, because I heard lots of people who bricked their flashcart.

If you dont do the update, you cant play zelda. And the people arent bricking their Flashcarts, they are not using the correct Xmenu.

You have no worries if you use the latest from GBAtemps Download section.

I want to remind that I have DS FIRE CARD, and I've only found an update for N-CARD, will this work?
And if you can bring me the download link, I'll be glad.

Will I need to backup something before the update?
If it failse, is there any way to recover it? Because I heard people could not get into the storage because of the update, and just destroyed their flashcart.

Oh, and the most important thing, I downloaded the update, how do I update the DS FIRE CARD with it?
And there's a file in there, named xmenu.dat, I know there is a file named like this.
Anyway, how do I update? (I want a specific answer, because I don't understand that much in those stuff).

First: Get the last firmware, you can find it in the download database

Here one guide how to update (It's not by me, i've found it at the download database. )

Important: This upgrade need to format N-Card, please backup your games and saves first.
1.Insert the Writer into slot 2 and insert N-Card into slot 1.
2.Use USB cable connect to PC USB port directly. (Please do not use extension USB cable)
3.Hold the "up" directionnal button and turn on power.
4.still holding "up", press "L+R+A+B", will enter upgrade mode(red color text).
5.Double click "NAND_ALL.bat"to run upgrade program. Please ignore if there some "found a badblock" appear when upgrade some 8G dslinker.
6.Quick Format N-Card by holding DOWN+A+B+L+R when starting your DS.
7.Copy "xmenu.nds" to the root (main directory, i.e. N:/ )
8.After the first time enter "GAME MODE", DSYSTEM folder will be set up. This folder you must not delete, or you will get an error when starting.

Now your N-Card/Clone should be updated ;D

If you are getting the "Health & Safety" screen, you can just press and hold up+L+R+A+B until the USB Safeblock screen shows~

If you dont get any screen before Loading the Card, I think you must press it before you start.

Anywhere~
The only file you have to copy manualy is the xmenu (7.Copy "xmenu.nds" to the root (main directory, i.e. N:/ ))

OK, problem solved, I didn't need to update the FIRE CARD, because it already has a savetype changing function.
Zelda works and saves great, thanks for everybody who helped me.

Savetype changing is incluided in every Firmware...
It's just that Zelda uses a new SaveType which is only supported by the newer firmwares~
