There is a more simple way. Find a Japan proxy, and fill into the 3ds network proxy setting.
But sometimes maybe slower than direct connect.

P.S. That's not the problem about DNS, It's about your local IP address.

That sounds interesting, have you done it yourself? Where is the "3DS network proxy setting" located? I don't have my 3DS here so I can't try it atm. I kinda need to do this before Dec 1 because the video I want expires on Nov 30.

Yeah, I tried and succeed. Well, my 3ds is a US version, and I'm not in America. So I find some free America HTTP proxy from Google.
The 3ds network proxy setting is here: system settings---->internet settings--->connection settings--->[connection 1]--->change settings--->[the second page]---->Proxy Settings--->Yes--->Detailed setup
Now you get the proxy setting. What you need is a Japan proxy that working properly, fill in the proxy serve IP address and the port.

In Japanese:

インターネット接続->接続先1->設定変更->Proxyの設定->する->詳細設定。
Proxyサーバー:Here is the Proxy sever IP address.
ポート:Here is the Port number.

Some pics may help.

ADD. here's some JP proxy severs, I'm not sure work or not, just try.

Mind sharing what Proxy server IP + Port you used? I entered the proxy correctly and WiFi test also succeeded but it still shows this service is not available in your country...I also followed acacd's instructions very carefully...any help is greatly appreciated!

I assume your 3DS region is JPN, right? If you don't have a JPN 3DS you won't access the JPN Nintendo Video content no matter where you are. You should also make sure the connection you used the proxy on is connection number 1(接続先1).

That's odd... If the connection test is successful, Nintendo Video should work like it did for me. Try some of these proxies.

How many 3DS systems do you have? :ha:
Yeah, just get a US proxy and you're good to go I guess.

You need a JPN 3DS to access the JPN eShop. IP address is irrelevant for the eShop.

There's a fact you cannot ignore.
When a video expires. It will be delete from your 3ds automatically.

Thanks for sharing this awesome method to get the Nintendo Video/TV to work outside the service area!
