You need to make a certain number of posts before you can unlock certain functions like PMs or the trading section on here. If I remember correctly and it hasn't been changed, it's 10 posts on threads (EoF and Intro subforums don't count towards the post count) for PMs. You can see your current valid post count on your profile.
