i currently have ADSL, so it comes with a 4 port gateway (non wireless) and its pretty fast. 6000kb download and 768k upload. my modem is in my room , and my wii is in my living room. i think its about 100 ft away from each other. what do i need to get in order to get wifi on my wii?
i read somewhere about the lil nintendo DS adapter? im not sure. but is there something i could buy that will send out a wireless signal all the way to my living room using my current connection?

thanks

100ft is a bit far for a wireless signal, not to mention all the things in the way like floors, walls and metals.
You might want to consider getting an access point and installing it much closer, linking it to your main connection by a long cable.

Buy a wireless router. I got a Linksys WRT54G and I get my DS playing 20 ft away through two walls. Works fine but the signal is weak.
I've heard of people get a range of about 1km after putting a homemade ariel on the router. (Secondhand story but they swear they did.)

if you buy a usb dongle access point like the one from nintendo, you should be able to just plug it in your computer's usb port.

if you buy a wireless router, like the linksys wrt54g (wireless g router) just install it following the directions on the software that came with the router, and set the channel to 1 or 11 because the default 6 doesn't work well with the wii.

I wouldn't recommend the dongle. I tried it and it could not work with my AOL ISP. This in turn made me miss out on the GBAtemp Mario Kart tournament. A wireless router is a sound investment as a lot of products and games will be utlilising wifi anyways.

does the linksys have a spot for me to use regular ethernet cables as well as wireless?
The WRT54G model does... 4 spots for 4 separate ethernet cables, in fact. I bought mine about a year ago for $70, the price should be considerably lower by now. It's a great, reliable router.

EDIT: Actually, I'm taking a look at the new MicroCenter paper that just came in and the WRT54G model is $50. WRT54GS is another model that contains a "Speedbooster" that enables 35% faster speeds then the original. That model is $70. However these are only good until the 17th, so I'm guessing these are Xmas sales...
