So recently I've been trying to install homebrew on my old 3ds XL console. I only became aware of it AFTER doing the update to 11.5, and there is no site telling me any available entrypoint for 11.5 that actually works (It only says something like ''works from 9.0.0-X up to and including 11.4.0-X), which doesn't include 11.5 at all. Since I've never installed the launcher before, I can't just update the files and have access to it, since I just don't have the icon to open in the home menu. Is it possible at the moment to get it installed on my system ?

The only methods you would be able to get cfw on your system right now would be if you had a second hacked system to do a dsiwarehax transfer with. There is also a hardmod option which is more risky with whats needed. There is also a boothax method that the devs are working on currently which could possibly be installed using a flashcard and potentially 1 system. But that is still all rumors right now for what can be done with it.

Would it be more simple to just wait till a better way to launch it is developped?

I am pretty sure anything that works on 11.4 also works on 11.5. Keep in mind this will only get you userland homebrew, not CFW. If you want CFW then it's as @lone_wolf323 says. Hardmod or second console with CFW required. There will be something new released when 3DS hits EOL but that is a while away yet. You're better off buying a 2DS, installing CFW, using it to install CFW on your console, then selling it. You may even make a profit. Compare that to waiting a year or longer, and I think the choice is clear.
