Liking a post on perfectionism, eh? Ok. Lets do this. :tpi:

- Automatic HD upscaling
- 14.5 surround sound
- 3D for every game
- Pause menu hacks the white house
- Generates gift cards for Amazon
- Supports SNES, Wii, GC, N64, and Wii U game in that order!
- Build in CPU
- New 2014 edition

Seriously though, great job! Looking forward to audio support, and keep up the good work!

2.0 will support all of it and Playstation 4 emulation 60@1080p on 3DS :D just wait AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA xD

Just wanted to say THANK YOU for actually getting shit done unlike most people in the scene (smea).
I also want to add into the conversation of needing this shit better organized.
I don't think we need a new board but we need a sticky with a more accurate and updated OP

Ziggyro, Yes. You will get banned. The mods don't really care about freedom of speech etc. They deem themselves to be the judge, jury and executor. Ok not all the mods to be honest. In fact, I bet my post will be deleted too and there will be no proof of it and the reason would be like "Insulting" or something which doesn't even make sense. I'm guessing that all this hate is because spiderman was left out from the avengers movie.

Also, you need to realize while there are people that advocate that smea is an egotist and more. The fact is that smealum has made some contributions to the homebrew scene. Sure, he might not have released his work on redNand which would spur further progress but I won't deny that he has made contributions.

Witrhout CTRU-lib we'd still be trying to figure out launcher.dat homebrew and how it works.

I'm a bit confused why people don't use .3ds. What advantages does it have over a launcher?

.3ds supports full usermode, and launcher.dat is just bare metal.

Currently .3ds is a better format for homebrew, while with work a launcher.dat could let us get usermode homebrew without a flashcart.

How tough is it to convert between the two? I assume it isn't too hard.

Smea is a university student. He's no "ub3r l33t h4x0r", he's just a student with some free time now and again and an interest in hacking. Without Smea, we'd have no homebrew right now. Smea pulled together the team of developers that are working on ctrulib, and without that, there wouldn't be any possibility of ARM11 homebrew with any real availability. Sure, there would still be ARM9 homebrew, but it wouldn't be the same. It takes a great deal of work to program a software framework, and he's built and released that for everyone to enjoy. He may not like piracy, which stopped him from releasing his earlier RedNAND, but RedNAND was also unstable and had no DRM to prevent piracy. It's really no surprise that he didn't release it. Either way, he's not getting paid for his work, he's just devoting his time whenever possible. And right now, he's finishing off a full usermode 3DS exploit that should let us play usermode 3DS-ARM11 homebrew on every released firmware to date. What's the problem here? He's releasing updates to ctrulib all the time, he's working intently on a usermode exploit for all 3DS firmwares to date, which he has full intentions of releasing once it becomes stable. What more to you believe yourself worthy of? He's already giving away his time for free. If you simply MUST pirate, either buy a Gateway, or learn how to program ROP chains and NAND redirection, as well as patching active modules in memory. It's all fairly easy stuff if you know how it's done after all, but it takes a while to learn the ground work required to do it. But regardless, you'd might as well start now, as you'll want the knowledge for when the next console comes out that you want to hack, and you don't want to bitch about someone not slaving away at it for you in the way that you want them too, with your morals and interests in mind.

Anyway, the point is that Smea isn't a stuck-up brat, he's a smart guy and doesn't have as much free time as most think he does. So yeah, chill out and learn some stuff yourself, then you'll have a better idea of the work he has to do in order to bring these things to you, for free no less.

So yeah well my first suggestion would be with the emulator menu, I guess it'd be better if all the emulator functionalities were available from the lower screen, things like rom selection, screen resolution, binding, possible savestates...etc, so we could easily access those functionalities while playing...

It's just a matter of ergonomy but I think it'd be better than just pressing the trigger to get back to rom selection as we could even press it by accident while playing, here such a thing would be way less likely to happen.
If you're too lazy to make a tactile interface(that I would understand as its not really necessary), you could just do something like touching the surface would pause the game and enables the menu options that you would then control with classic inputs, touching it again would re-enable the game.

Also sorting only the ".nes" files in the rom selection menu would be more appropriate as for a reason the rom selection menu didnt see the rom I added in my SD card and was displaying all my save files from Gateway and saturating the display (I'll provide a photo to show exactly how it is).

Then again its not fully necessary for now, also I only know few about programming (I do simple C terminal programs to train myself up) so I don't really know if it'd take time...

Another big thank you for actually working on one of the first real homebrew of the 3DS, you're doing history mate B-)

Great work st4rk!

I suggest defining a folder called "3DNES" or something for the roms. That way only the roms in that folder would show up and no other files (save files ...).

Thanks for releasing the NES emulator.
I still didn't test any 3DS homebrew (haven't powered my console for months).

Some suggestion:
Add a version number to the file you upload.
I like to keep track to all posted files, and it's hard to sort them by date and to know which file is older/newer/better etc.
It will be easier to create a wiki with update progress too. (Yes, I still plan to create and update homebrew on the wiki)
Thanks :)

Second suggestion is the same as SpaceJump.
3DNES/ROMS/
3DNES/SAVES/
that would be even better :p

I can help with Wiki.
currently it has only two (and outdated) pages for 3DS homebrew because I didn't had time to update them and follow this thread, and because nobody else is editing it.

I agree that posting all homebrew in the same thread is hard to follow what's being done, what's being released, which format (.dat, .bin, .elf or .3ds), etc.
Having individual threads will help, but it will also be buried in the 3DS flashcart's noob questions. Maybe a real Homebrew section to post only homebrew worked on projects would provide a better overview.

What about spliting the current forum into 2 subforums
"3DS - Hacking & Homebrew Support"
"3DS - Hacking & Homebrew Development"
would also help with WiiU
